  • Chester Zoo

Thu 10 Dec 2020 Miss West

Our first visit to Chester Zoo was a great success!!

The Key Stage 1 children thoroughly enjoyed the trip and had lots of fun taking part in their activity with Jenny. It was great to see all of the animals that we have been learning about over the past half term.

The fun isn't over yet; our year 5 and 6 children headed off this morning for their visit and year 3 and 4 will go tomorrow.

Don't forget to check out the class Twitter pages to see what we got up to!

  • Chester Zoo - Year 5 and Year 6

Wed 02 Dec 2020 Miss West

    Dear Parent / Carer,

Your child may have told you about the virtual workshops that have been taking place with the safari rangers from Chester Zoo.  We have been learning how the habitat of orang-utans is being destroyed for the production of palm oil. At Beech Hill, we have taken the Sustainable Palm Oil Challenge, a project which aims to protect some of the amazing species at risk from deforestation in South East Asia.

As part of the project, we have the opportunity to go and visit the zoo.  This trip has been postponed a number of times due to Covid19 regulations but we now have the go-ahead to see these amazing creatures for ourselves.

Your child’s Y5/Y6 bubble will be visiting the zoo on:

    Thursday 10th  December

The coach will leave from school at approximately 9:00am and we ask that you provide your child with a packed lunch.  Children entitled to free school meals will have a packed lunch provided by school. Please be aware, the rangers have informed us that if children would like to experience the ‘lemur walk through’, face coverings must be worn by children and adults alike – if you would like child to take part in this activity, you must send them to school with a mask.  School uniform will be worn, but please keep an eye on the weather – it could be wet so coats with hoods would be ideal.

This is the first educational visit we have been on since March. We feel very lucky and we’re all really excited.  We should be back at school for 3:00pm.

There is no charge for this trip.

If you have any questions, please ask your child’s class teacher at drop off / pick up.

    Yours faithfully,

    Michelle McCarthy
