Beech Hill Community School Uniform Policy

By signing the Home School Agreement, you are agreeing to follow the school’s uniform policy.

All children at Beech Hill Community Primary School wear full school uniform when attending school, or when required if participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours.

Our policy is based on the belief that school uniform:

  • Encourages a sense of belonging to the school community

  • Is practical and smart

  • Fosters a sense of equality amongst all pupils

  • Identifies children with the school

  • Should be designed and chosen with health and safety in mind.

  • Should be as affordable as possible and easy to buy (links for purchasing uniform are on the school website)

Parents overwhelmingly support the school uniform policy and we consider it the responsibility of all parents to send their children to school correctly dressed.  We recognise that in a multi-faith society, adaptations may be necessary to the uniform. These should be discussed and agreed with the school and parents should, in the first instance, approach the Headteacher on such matters.

All items of uniform and outdoor coats must be clearly labelled so that lost items can be reunited with their owners as quickly as possible.

Basic Uniform List

White blue T-shirt with school logo

Navy sweatshirt bottoms – optional

Black plimsolls

Hair and headwear

If hair is long enough, it must be tied back with a simple, inconspicuous hair band. Dyed hair is not permitted in school. Hair styles should be traditional and appropriate.

Jewellery

Wrist watches and stud earrings may be worn for school, however, these must be removed for PE lessons.  No other jewellery is permitted in school.

If a family is having financial difficulties in purchasing items of uniform they should contact the school.

The governing body will monitor and review the school uniform policy by:

seeking the views of parents, to ensure that they agree with and support the policy

  • considering, when necessary, requests from parents for individual children to have special dispensation with regard to school uniform

  • requiring the Headteacher to report to the governors on the way the school uniform policy is implemented

We have a stock of good quality second hand school uniform available to all parents. Please contact the school office if required.
