Class Information

Mrs Hobin, the nursery class teacher, would like to welcome you to our class page which is a window into daily life in nursery. In nursery we are very lucky to be supported by Miss Lyon and Miss Morgan and we work very closely with the rest of the Early Years Team in reception. If you have any questions or concerns about anything in reception please do not hesitate to speak to any member of staff.

We are always very busy in nursery and love to share our learning with you so don't forget to check back on this class page regularly to keep up to date with all our news and photographs. Don't forget to access the weekly school newsletter, as well as the website, for up to date information and key dates.

Our full school day starts at 8:45am and finishes at 3:15pm.  Our morning session finishes at 11:45am, and our afternoon session begins at 12:15pm.

You are welcome to send a change of clothes including shoes and socks to keep in Nursery as accidents do sometimes happen and we also love to explore, play and get messy. Please always send your child with a coat as we will go outside even when it rains.

A Window Into Nursery

As we are no longer using X/Twitter to share our learning, please check back to this page regularly to see what we have been doing in nursery.

Easter

We celebrated the Christian festival of Easter, a time for Christians to remember the sacrifice Jesus (the son of God) made when he died for their sins, as well as a         celebration of his resurrection on Easter Sunday. We shared the Easter story, made Easter nests and also had a very special visit from the Easter Bunny.

Eid Mubarak

Eid is the festival or celebration which marks the end of Ranadan. The holy month of Ramadan is a very  important time in the Islamic calendar, and Muslims all over the world take part.  Muslims believe this sacred month is a time for reflection, prayer and seeking countless blessings.

Shrove Tuesday

Shrove Tuesday is the day before the start of Lent. Traditionally Christians would use up all the ingredients in their cupboards so that they could start Lent the next day. To celebrate Shrove Tuesday we made our own pancake mixture and tried different  toppings to see which one was the favourite of the class. We also had a pancake flipping competition and the superstar pancake flipper managed to flip the pancake 13 times without dropping it.

Well Done to everyone for a wonderful effort on World Book Day.

Ramadan Mubarak

Thank you to Yahya and Ahmad and their mummy and daddy who brought gifts for all the children this week as part of their Ramadan celebrations. The holy month of Ramadan is a very important time in the Islamic calendar, and Muslims all over the world take part. It begins and ends with the crescent moon and this year it was expected to begin on 28th February and end on 30th March. Muslims believe this sacred month is a time for reflection, prayer and seeking countless blessings.

Creating our own obstacle course

To celebrate Lunar New Year we joined reception class in the hall to learn a new dance. We also tasted some traditional Chinese foods. Some of us were not so sure about the new tastes but some of us liked it so much we even licked our plates clean!

Big Garden Bird Watch Week

We explored bird seed before using it to make our own pine cone bird feeders. We have put these in the trees at the side of the garden so we can help to look after and observe the birds that come into the garden.

We learned the poem, ‘5 little peas’ and then we practised mindful eating with our peapod snack. We touched, tickled, listened to and smelled our peapods. I bet you didn’t know they giggle when you tickle them! Finally we gave them a kiss and a lick before having a nibble. Removing the pressure to try new foods and instead exploring them in a fun way means that most children end up trying them without realising.

We’ve been very busy during Spring 1 welcoming new friends into nursery. We’ve helped them to understand and follow our school rules, Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Ready, by being good friends and fantastic role models. We’ve learned lots of new rhymes and poems, celebrated birthdays and explored and engaged in lots of exciting activities in our indoor and outdoor environment.
